Welcome to the McDowell County Board of REALTORS®' official web site! Here you can search for homes, land or commercial properties available from all our MLS member REALTORS®.

McDowell County is one of the best places to live in all of Western North Carolina. From Little Switzerland to Lake James, from North Cove to Nebo, from Old Fort to historic downtown Marion, here you'll find some of the best values in WNC mountain real estate. Whether you want to live on the lake or find a home or land on the mighty Catawba River; whether you want a mountainside retreat with a stunning view or a simple cabin by a gurgling creek, a large private estate or farm, or large acreage for development, we've got it all.

Snuggled in the foothills of the exquisite Blue Ridge Mountains, part of the southern Appalachian Mountains system, McDowell County is framed by the Blue Ridge Parkway to the northwest, Linville Mountain (home of Linville Falls and Gorge) to the northeast, and rolls down to beautiful undulating country in the south.  In the west we reach towards Lake Lure and climb to Black Mountain and Buncombe County, where you head into the Great Smoky Mountains, and in the east we border Morganton in Burke County and their beautiful South Mountains. Our altitude varies widely from 1080 ft. up to 5,665 ft. just a few miles from Mount Mitchell in neighboring Yancey County, which looms at 6,684 ft., the highest peak east of the Mississippi.

We're just 30 minutes from Spruce Pine, 40 minutes from Asheville or Banner Elk, 50 minutes from Hickory or Grandfather Mountain. It's barely an hour to Boone and Blowing Rock, and just a half hour to several fabulous ski slopes. And then there's beautiful pristine Lake James with its 150 miles of shoreline for boating, fishing and all manner of fun on a gorgeous mountain lake.

And as you might imagine, there are miles and miles of hiking, biking and riding trails, and some of the world's best climbing, camping and fishing spots in and around our precious Pisgah National Forest. In short, here is where you find The Good Life.
